Andy Murray

Andy Murray - French Open 2012

The Andy Murray odds may be much shorter than expected this year in the Mens Singles Betting, despite the fact that he has yet to equal the success on clay like he has on the grass and hard courts. However, when Murray walked off court at Roland Garros last year after suffering defeat at the hands of Fernando Gonzalez, he said that he was quite pleased with his clay court progress and was confident of doing much better this year in the French Open Tennis 2011 Championship. We have already seen him reach the final of the Australian Oen this year and has to be a major threat on any surface including clay.

Andy Murray French Open Tennis 2012 Odds

He reached the quarter-finals in 2009 and if he will be hoping he can at least do the same this year before moving onto the grass of Wimbledon which will be much more to his liking.

It has been an interesting year for Murray with some big highs and lows along the way as he looks for his first Grand Slam title. He performed as well as he ever has in Australia back in January when reaching the final, he lost out to Federer that day and Murray certainly took some time to recover from that loss. He has struggled on the clay over the past few weeks but is starting to win a few matches as we head to Roland Garros.

2009 Form

Already this year Andy has won three titles in Doha, Rotterdam and the ATP Masters Miami. He has reached the final in the ATP Masters in Indian Wells (Hardcourt) and the semi final of the ATP Masters Monte Carlo Clay). His record so far this year is played 36, won 31 and lost only five times. Two of these defeats were at the hands of Nadal. His clay court play has improved significantly, he has reached a clay courts Masters quarter final and semi final so far this season. He had a good Wimbledon in 2009 also reaching the Semi-Finals before losing to Andy Roddick and went to the fourth Round of the US Open before suffering a poor defeat to Marin Cilic.
