Ana Ivanovic

Since winning the French Open last year, and claiming the world number one ranking the career of Ana Iavnovic seems to have slipped into reverse. She is now ranked only eighth in the world and needs a big tournament at Roland Gaross to revive her flagging fortunes.

On the plus side she loves playing on clay and has been in the final at this event for the last two years. She lost in 2007 to Justine Henin and then won last year against current world number one, Dinara Safina from Russia.

Her form dipped badly after winning the French and she has only appeared in two finals since, winning a minor tournament in Austria nd then earlier this year she was runner up to Vera Zvonereva at the Indian Wells WTA mandatory event.

Round by Round

Below is the round by round scores of Ana Ivanovic

  • Round One - Beat Sara Errani - 7-6, 6-3. Ana struggled somewhat in this match, but has sufficient know-how to overcome her enthusiastic opponent. Ivanovic now plays 32 year old Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand, who is curently ranked 52 in the world. The betting has Ivanovic overwhelming favourite to win at 1/8 odds on, while the Thai is 8-1 against scoring a shock win
  • Round Two - Beat Tamarine Tanasugarn - 6-1, 6-2. Easy win for the reigning champion who now plays Iveta Benesova the number 32 seed in the third round
  • Round Three - Beat Iveta Benasova - 6-2, 6-0. Looked very impressive and seems to be getting back to her best. Her next match will be a big test if she comes through that then she has every chance of getting close to retaining her title.

French Open odds

Currently Ivanovic is a 12/1 chance to retain her title at Roland Gaross.
